Being Prepared on the Road

What to Do if You Get Stranded at Night

Have you ever been stranded on the side of the road at night, putting you in a panic? Lucky for most, you probably haven’t. But there are things that you can be aware of so if this situation ever does happen to you, you will know what to do. Here’s a couple tips to increase your safety and help you get rescued sooner.

Have a Car Emergency Kit

You never know when a crisis could hit. Make sure that you have a car emergency kit in your vehicle, especially if you’re traveling a long distance. Here are some great car emergency kits that have everything you need to keep you safer, until you can get help.

Keep Blankets in the Trunk

Night time can get cold, especially if you’re vehicle is no longer working. Throw some extra blankets in the trunk to help keep you as warm as possible.

Use Your Phone to Share Your Location

Getting stranded in unfamiliar territory, without any idea where you’re at, can be scary and make you feel helpless. Being able to pinpoint your exact location will give your rescuers a quicker and better way of finding you.

Call the Police

This is not the time to be calling the ghostbusters. Calling the police will be your quickest way out of danger, as there should be an officer patrolling an area that is remotely close to your location.

Call for Help Right Away

While this seems like a no-brainer, some people will try and fix the problem themselves rather than asking for others to help them. Trying to walk somewhere without letting anyone know your where-abouts is a dangerous way to go.

Stay in your Car

The easiest and quickest way for someone to find you, is to stay in your car. Police officers that see a vehicle broke down will pull over to check it out. If they find a broke-down vehicle, with no one in it, will not help you much.

These are some tips for you if you ever get in a stranded situation at nighttime. What other ways can you keep yourself safe if your vehicle breaks down.
